Children in the Nursery School are able to take Ballet lessons from the age of three years. These lessons occur during school time and the cost is added to the school bill. Specialist clothing is required for Ballet for both boys and girls.
Children wishing to continue, or start Ballet lessons going on into the Pre-Prep are able to sign up for the Queen’s College Performing Arts ballet lessons offered after school. Classes are divided into ability groups, and there is the opportunity to progress towards the Royal Academy of Dance examinations.
After-school Tap lessons for Reception, Year 1 and 2 children are offered through Queen’s College Performing Arts. The same uniform is worn as for Ballet and again classes lead towards the Imperial Society for the Teachers of Dance examinations. Regular performances in both dance styles are given to parents.
Our Street Dance session is very popular with both boys and girls. It is a fun and energetic class which combines Modern, Jazz and Hip Hop dance performed to the latest pop tunes.
From Year 1 we offer our children group Speech and Drama lessons which aid confidence and clear speech, which benefit young children enormously. These lessons can lead to the LAMDA examinations and many of our children are also entered for the Taunton and Somerset Speech and Drama Festival giving them the opportunity to perform in front of an audience.
