Personal, Health, Social and Moral Education

In Years 10 and 11, all pupils participate in one PSHME lesson per week which is led by a variety of teachers in a carousel formation. Pupils are taught in small groups and spend six weeks learning about a specific topic before moving on to the next area. The topics covered over the two years include mental health, sex education, drugs and their effects and the law, bodily health, ethics and morals, current affairs, careers guidance, financial literacy, first aid and study skills.

The aim of the course is to prepare pupils for life after school and to ensure they are ready to face the challenges that will come their way. We hope to encourage students to form opinions, consider the wider impact of their actions and respect the views and choices of others. This is particularly important in today’s society so that pupils can take control of their lives and make the right choices.
