Queen’s College is fortunate to have the best and most modern Sixth Form Centre in the area.
The Centre, designed this year as an interim between school and university, consists of large modern social areas, complete with widescreen TV with surround sound system, DVD, pool tables and multi-media resource areas. There are two seminar-style classrooms where specific A Level subjects are taught complete with multi-media equipment. The IT suite is equipped with PCs and tablets as well as plugs for students’ own laptops and WiFi internet access is available throughout the whole building. The silent study area consists of workstations, booths and pods with comfortable desk chairs so that those wishing to concentrate on A Level study can do so quietly. Large, well-equipped shower and locker areas are available for after exercise or to freshen up before social events. There is also a kitchen and cafe area to make snacks, drinks and other light refreshments and an outside patio area with beautiful views overlooking the playing fields.
The Centre opens from 7.30am to 10pm and also at weekends and is an ideal meeting place for 16-18 year olds who want both to work and socialise in a relaxed yet purposeful environment. Staff are available at all times to help with mentoring, careers guidance or advice should the need arise.
