Hockey
1st XI Hockey v Clayesmore
The team delivered an exciting and determined performance , creating a host of chances and dominating large periods of the game. Unfortunately, despite their attacking intent and relentless pressure, the final result didn’t go their way as they fell to a narrow defeat. The opening passage of play consisted of Queen’s passing the ball around the opposition without them getting a touch on the ball, and having a great opportunity to score. From the first whistle, they played with energy and purpose, controlling possession and moving the ball with confidence. Queen’s attacking players found space well, and it didn’t take long before they carved out our first big opportunity. A brilliant through ball split the opposition’s defence, but their goalkeeper made an excellent save to deny what looked like a certain goal. As the game progressed, Queen’s continued to push forward, creating multiple opportunities. Queen’s wingers stretched the play, delivering dangerous crosses into the box, and Queen’s midfield dictated the tempo. Against the run of play, the opposition scored a couple of goals to take the lead. Even then, the boys response was immediate and full of character—Queen’s pressed high, won key battles and kept the pressure on. A flurry of chances followed, with shots narrowly missing the target or being blocked at the last moment. On this occasion Clayesmore came out on top, in what was a very tight match.
2nd XI Clayesmore
In the final match of the season, the 2nd XI hockey team faced a challenging situation with a depleted squad due to limited availability. Despite the adversity, the players displayed great determination and commitment throughout the match. Everyone gave their best effort, showing resilience and teamwork, and while the result wasn’t the main focus, the experience left the team feeling positive. The spirit and effort shown in what was a tough end to the season highlighted the character of the group. It was a fitting conclusion to a season where they never gave up, regardless of the circumstances.
U15A v Clayesmore
Queen’s College U15A put in a spirited performance in a closely contested match against Clayesmore, showing great composure and structure in the early exchanges. Despite an aggressive press from the hosts, Queen’s maintained their shape well, moving the ball fluidly through the midfield. However, chances were limited, with the attacking players struggling to find space in the final third. The breakthrough came after a well-executed passage of play, as Euan delivered an early ball into the area, leading to a deflected effort from TT and a resulting short corner. A rehearsed set-piece routine proved decisive, with Ollie finishing clinically beyond the keeper to give Queen’s a 1-0 lead at half-time. The second half saw tired legs come into play, allowing Clayesmore to capitalise with two quick goals. Queen’s fought hard to regain control but found it difficult to assert the same dominance as before. In the dying moments, TT came agonisingly close to an equaliser, striking the post, only for Clayesmore to counter swiftly and add a third. A brilliant contest with plenty of positives for Queen’s, despite the 3-1 scoreline. The team will take valuable lessons forward as they continue their season.
U14B v Clayesmore
Queen’s started strongly, defending well and maintaining a good tempo to their play. They rotated players effectively, keeping energy levels high and ensuring control through the middle. Despite early pressure from the opposition, their organisation and teamwork kept them solid at the back while patiently looking for openings going forward. The breakthrough finally came in the second half, sparking a surge in confidence. Queen’s created more chances, taking more shots and driving the game forward with terrific close control in attack. Their determination and skill shone through in an impressive all-round performance, securing a well-earned result.
Netball
U12 A&B v Blundell’s
The U12 A and B teams faced Blundell’s in two thrilling and competitive matches that tested every player’s skills and resilience. Both games were intense from start to finish, offering plenty of learning opportunities and moments of brilliance on the court.
U13A v Blundell’s
An outstanding performance by the U13B saw them compete with a quality side from Blundell’s. Eva as goalkeeper had her best game of the season making lots of interceptions and winning rebounds. Throughout the court there were dominant plays and great fights by Queen’s. It was an exciting contest to the end and lots of pride in Queen’s performance.
U13B v Blundell’s
The U13B team took on Blundell’s at home and were put to work from the first centre by fast play and strong skills. The girls stuck to task well including making their own interceptions and progressing down the court. They kept possession more easily when they got in front of their defenders and took care of our ball placement. There was far more evidence of us matching our opponents than the score line suggests and whilst Blundell’s took victory.
U13c v Blundell’s
A tough match for the girls who fought valiantly and never let their heads drop. It was clear from the first quarter that Blundell’s were quick and well-drilled.
In the second quarter the Blundell’s coach mixed their team up and a more even match ensued. Sadie had a great match at GK and GD making lots of tips. Ellie worked well at both WA and C, with Eliza contributing consistently at C. Well done also to Erin for her flexibility and also empathy towards others on the team.
U14A vs Blundell’s
A much better match from the U14A team who worked well as a unit and supported each other throughout. Blundell’s were a strong team but we kept our heads up and had some great periods of play especially in the 2nd and 3rd quarter. We took our chances when they came with some great shooting from Teniore. We need to work on keeping possession and not giving the ball away too easily. I was pleased with the positivity and support that was shown throughout.
U14B
The U14B team played well and the score does not reflect the match. Each quarter was competitive with some great interceptions from the defence. Conditions were cold and windy which didn’t help. All of the girls were positive in their approach to the match and worked until the final whistle, the last quarter was probably their best. Unfortunately, they couldn’t take their opportunities when they came and goals were hard to come by.
U14C
Lots of team spirit, energy and determination were evident in this fixture. Throughout the game, the girls improved in all areas with the circle defence taking numerous interceptions. Unfortunately, they were unable to capitalise on all their goal-scoring opportunities. Emma and Charlotte were nominated as coaches player of the match with Naomi and Sudem voted as opposition players. Well played
U15B
An evenly contested game in which the team had lots of possession throughout but, could not make up the deficit in the second half. Some positives to take forward with the squad displaying versatility, determination and resilience

U15A v Blundell’s
A challenging game from the go this Saturday at Blundell’s but this feisty team never ceased to amaze their coach with their drive and persistence. The first quarter finished a close 7-2 to Blundell’s. The team shared their ideas for what they needed to do moving forward in the match. The score had slowly crept up again and at half-time was 12-3 to Blundell’s. They had got into a flow so did not make any subs between these quarters. Hats of to Evvie who persevered despite not feeling 100% and to top it off receiving a nail jab to the eye! Izzy made some great blocks in defense and Freya ensured the ball was transferred safely from the mid-court to the end third. The final score was 29-11. Blundell’s were very good at defending the shooting circle and a team that they would look forward to taking on again next year. The game was recorded which will be a great analysis opportunity for the team.
U15B v Blundell’s
This agile team played to their full potential on Saturday against Blundell’s. Low on the ground for numbers the girls had to borrow a few players and adapt, which they did well. They fought hard and the score finished 20-1. A great opposition, possibly not evenly matched, however, they were gracious and honest on the court and that is what sport is all about.
