Pupils Mark D-Day Anniversary With Wartime Cooking

Posted: 6th June 2024

On Thursday, Pupils in food and Nutrition marked the 80th anniversary of the D-Day landings with pupils making traditional wartime recipes made during the times of wartime rationing in this country.
Food was rationed in Britain from 1940 until 1954 when families were all issued ration books to allow them to buy their weekly individual allowance of meat, sugar, milk, eggs, and fats from their registered greengrocers and butchers.
Year 5 enjoyed cooking potato scones, while s Year 4 cooked some delicious carrot cookies!
Mr Mann has provided some war time recipes for pupils to try at home.
