South West & Somerset Junior Chef of the Year 2024

South West & Somerset Junior Chef of the Year 2024

Posted: 26th June 2024

We are very proud of Henry who made it through to both the Final of Somerset Junior Chef of the Year and the semi-final of South West Junior Chef of the Year 2024 at Bridgwater and Taunton College yesterday evening. The competition is run by Michelin Star celebrity TV chef Michael Caines MBE.

After much rehearsal over the last weeks, he produced a beautiful dish that was expertly executed and perfectly cooked with an exceptional sauce. He prepared, cooked and served South West Sweet and Sour Orange Pheasant with Homemade Noodles served with onions, garlic and edible flowers (all of which were organically grown here by the pupils at Queen’s) and pheasant that Henry shot himself.

The noodles had a consistent uniform thickness, the fresh and tangy sauce had a beautiful glossy glaze, and the pheasant had a wonderful crisp golden brown finish.

Unfortunately for Henry he narrowly missed out on making it through to the next round but Henry deserves a huge amount of recognition for his efforts his professionalism and his calm and controlled attitude throughout the competition.
