Nursery

The children in Highgrove have been enjoying the sunny weather this week, with picnics and water play to keep cool.

Cottontails have enjoyed exploring the wild animals to follow their book of the week ” The Animal Boogie” They have also been busy practising their physical skills, climbing up and down the castle gym and walking with the walkers.

Tiggywinkles story of the week has been ‘WOW said the owl’ the children have been learning colours using playdough and painting pictures. The children have also been keeping cool in the hot weather by splashing and playing in the water. There has been some good teamwork as they filled bottles with water.

Puddleducks have engaged in a variety of activities. They had some woodwork sessions where they practised using a hammer and a saw. They have also been focusing on their story of the week, ‘What the Ladybird Heard’, they created a pond, and had ladybird role play. Finally, the Puddleducks children who are due to move on over the Summer enjoyed an end-of-year party with Queen’s Minis.

Now that summer is finally here the Queen’s Minis children have been getting in the festival mood with dancing in the garden, picnic snacks under the tree and lots of water activities to keep cool. The children have practised with great enthusiasm their races ready for sports day at the end of the week and we also had an impromptu visit from Mr Noad and Percy, the dog, who drew a crowd of followers when they popped in to say hello. There have also been plenty of inside activities to keep everyone busy when we wanted to be out of the sun with a junk box modelling session to test and try out different ways of fixing and constructing in three-dimensional form and an end-of-year party with entertainment from Krazy Kev. What a fantastic final week we have had to the year and although it will be sad to wave everyone off at the end of term it is wonderful to see how ready all our children are to begin their academic life. I for one am very proud of all they have achieved and wish every preschooler who has come through my care the very best as I leave Queen’s with many fond memories.
