Queen’s College, Taunton, are pleased to announce that their students have significantly outperformed the national average with almost two-thirds of results graded at A* to B level.

Impressively, pupils of Queen’s College celebrated 100% pass rates in 20 different A Level subjects, including Biology, Business Studies, Economics, Further Maths, and Physics, and especially strong results in English Literature, Art, Music, Textiles and Computing.

Julian Noad, Head of College, said “All of our pupils should be very proud of the results they’ve achieved this year, a lot of hard work has gone into today. This is also a testament to our committed teaching and support staff who have guided them through their education at Queen’s.”

Alongside a strong set of group academic results, there was a number of outstanding individual performances to which Queen’s College, Taunton has grown accustomed.

Sevin Fernando achieved outstanding A-Level results, with grades of A*A*A*A* and an A* in his EPQ and a Distinction in AEA Maths. He will be continuing his academic journey at Imperial College London, where he will study Mathematics and Computer Science. During his time at Queen’s, Sevin earned a Gold Award in the Physics Olympiad, demonstrating his exceptional aptitude in the sciences. Beyond academics, Sevin has been deeply involved in co-curricular activities. He played a key role in the Queen’s motorsports programme, racing the Greenpower electric car on tracks across the country, including the iconic Goodwood Circuit. Sevin also excelled in performing arts, taking on the lead role of Valjean in last year’s production of Les Misérables. Sevin’s achievements both inside and outside the classroom embodies the school’s motto “We learn not for school, but for life”.

Rosie East, who joined the school in Year 7, achieved exceptional A Level results, A*AA in Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics and an A* in her EPQ! Rosie has accepted a place to study Biology at the University of Oxford. At Queen’s she not only excelled academically but also shone on stage as Fantine in Queen’s recent production of Les Miserables.

It was a particularly successful day for Queen’s medics securing a 100% acceptance rate to first-choice universities. Emily Davies and Joseph Naguib each secured results of A*AA EPQ A and will study Medicine at the University of Exeter and the University of East Anglia respectively. There were further successes in related fields including Sophie Lowe A*A*A and an A in her EPQ, accepting a place to study Physiotherapy at Cardiff University, alongside Dawn Webberley (ACA), who will study Adult Nursing at Bristol, University of the West of England. There was no shortage of impressive scores across a range of other subjects, which include Joshua Wilcox A*A*A and an A in his EPQ, being offered a place to study Software Engineering at the University of Southampton and Jonty Lusk (Distinction*, Distinction*, B) who will study Business and Management in Exeter.

Many unique journeys have also taken place. Toby Low has been a highly commended member of the Queen’s Greenpower Racing team contributing to the building, improvement, and maintenance of our Greenpower vehicle. His dedication helped the team compete at Goodwood, Predannack Airfield, Castle Combe, and Dunsfold. We’re thrilled that Queen’s has ignited Toby’s passion for Motorsport Engineering, and we’re proud to announce that he’s been offered a place at Coventry University to study Motorsports Engineering.

Ellie Frost joined Queen’s College at Sixth Form and quickly became an integral part of the vibrant community she describes as a place “where creativity thrives and support is abundant.” She completed her Gold Duke of Edinburgh Award, spending Christmas Eve carolling for individuals with special educational needs, and made a significant impact on the performing arts scene with standout roles like Cinderella’s stepsister in *Into The Woods* and Madame Thenardier in *Les Misérables*. Ellie also embarked on a life-changing journey to Cambodia with Edukid, raising funds to support families in need. After two years of hard work, she received an unconditional offer to study Theatre at Middlesex University. We are incredibly proud of Ellie and all she has achieved.
