Y6 RE Trip to Exeter Mosque & Cathedral

Y6 RE Trip to Exeter Mosque & Cathedral

Year 6 pupils recently had the wonderful opportunity to learn about different places of worship during a fascinating trip to Exeter. The day began with a visit to Exeter Mosque, where the children were given a tour by the Imam. They explored the wudu (washrooms) and prayer room, and learned many interesting facts about how worship takes place, including that 1,500 people gather at the mosque every Friday.

The pupils then visited Exeter Cathedral, where guides led insightful tours. The children were amazed to discover that 150,000 bodies are buried beneath Cathedral Green and that it costs £7,000 a day to run the cathedral!

The trip offered a unique chance for the pupils to reflect on the similarities and differences between the two places of worship, and they engaged thoughtfully throughout the day.
