Year 3 Ancient Egyptian Day

Year 3 Ancient Egyptian Day

Posted: 20th March 2024

Year 3 has had an awesome day as Ancient Egyptians. They began the day as Ancient Egyptian priests, researching the process of mummification more deeply through investigating sources in the computer suite, as well as playing enthusiastic roles in drama workshops.  Their mathematical skills were challenged when they took on the role of pyramid builders investigating how many blocks they would need to create one of the seven wonders of the world.

The afternoon began with a lovely language lesson led by the brilliant Mrs Perry, who introduced them to the languages of the Rosetta stone. We rounded the day off with a dramatic rendition of their English class reader ‘Cinderella of the Nile’ by Beverley Naidoo, plus some awesome Mummy Rappin’ and a quiz in assembly to entertain and inform their parents and the whole Prep School. The children looked amazing in their colourful costumes and gained a great deal from their day, including lots of fun!
