Nursery

It has been another busy and fun week in Highgrove Nursery.

Cottontails read ‘Bigger Digger’ this week, they used the cars and diggers to scoop from the sensory tray. They have also been exploring the garden, practising their physical skills by crawling, cruising or walking to reach the activities they want to play with.

In Tiggywinkles the children have been using their focus book ‘Animal Boogie’ to learn more about wild animals. They have been moving their bodies into different positions with animal yoga and pretending to move like animals in the garden. They have also explored animal-themed sensory play with the moon sand and water.

Whilst in Puddleducks the children read ‘The Very Hungry Caterpillar’ and enjoyed a fruit-tasting session where they had to guess the fruit and select their favourites. They have also been looking for insects in the garden and learning about life cycles of plants and animals.

Minis

The children in Queen’s minis have enjoyed spending lots of time in the nursery garden this week playing picnics and observing their growing efforts.

Rev Kelly paid one of his regular visits to them to read a story sharing about unconditional love to everyone and finishing with their favourite ‘rocket whoosh’ Amen!

Whilst in kitchen club the children have been practising the art of sandwich making using a variety of fillings such as honey jam and cheese spread which culminated in the satisfaction of  eating their own sandwich at snack time, which went down a treat! As they continue to build relationships with their prospective teachers in readiness for their move into big school in September the children have enjoyed acting out their interpretations of reception in the role play area which has been set up as a classroom.
