Prep School

It has certainly been refreshing weather for our return to school. Having two days of solid rain at the start of term was a little bit of a shock to the system – especially for the staff, however so often rugby is delayed in September due to hard ground, but the boys have enjoyed the softer ground and the ability to get into their rugby skills (and the mud) so early in the season.

The girls also have started positively and having started on Friday a little rusty but brimming with enthusiasm by Monday night we were beginning to see that some of our skills were beginning to come back to us!

Saturday sees our first encounter of the year for the girls. The U11A will have a challenging start at the Millfield Tournament, but also a great learning curve and a lesson on how to focus on and achieve objectives whilst still having fun. The rest of the Year 5 and 6 have their first competitive encounters next Wednesday with the Year 3 and 4 pupils in a few weeks time.

Hockey

The hockey season began with strong performances from all teams. The 1st XI started their campaign with a fresh squad, showing promising talent and teamwork. Despite a slow start and fatigue affecting their final stages, the team demonstrated solid defensive and offensive play, highlighting their potential.

The U15A Team excelled in a friendly tournament, steadily improving across their matches. They showed great commitment and tactical growth, despite facing tough competition. Their progress and teamwork set a positive tone for the season ahead.

The U14A Team made significant strides throughout their matches. After a challenging start, they demonstrated remarkable improvement, culminating in a well-deserved win. Their adaptability and teamwork reflect a bright future as they continue to refine their skills.

The U14B Team showcased impressive defensive and attacking abilities. Despite some tough matches and fatigue, their resilience and strategic play were evident, suggesting a strong potential for the season.

Overall, each team displayed dedication and skill, laying a solid foundation for continued success and growth throughout the season.

Rugby

The boys will face Plymouth College at U13, U14, U15 and 1st XV in what promises to be an exciting afternoon of rugby. The players are all looking forward to putting their training into action on the pitch and are excited to welcome many new faces into our rugby squads. Please have a look through the calendar! Do not forget that we now have the Wyvern Roost (click here for opening hours) open during and after matches on Wednesdays, so you can partake in the free tea and coffee or indulge in something from the cafe itself!
