Nursery

Despite the damp weather, the children at Queen’s College Nursery have been busy exploring their new facilities, both indoors and outdoors.

This week, the Cottontails group has been captivated by the story Brown Bear, Brown Bear. Through this beloved book, the children are learning about different animals and colours, with a range of engaging activities planned by staff to support their development. The Cottontails have also enjoyed the chance to explore their outdoor space, taking full advantage of the free-flow play environment, where they can choose to play inside or outside.

Meanwhile, the Puddleducks have been focusing on the theme People Who Help Us. The children have been enthusiastically pretending to be doctors, nurses, and dentists, learning about the important roles these professionals play. They also took time to draw pictures of people who help them, further enhancing their understanding of the world around them.

Minis

The Queen’s Minis have had a fantastic start to the first week of term, settling in beautifully and embracing the exciting new opportunities their pre-school year has to offer. The children enjoyed their first PE session in Birchall Hall, followed by an outdoor education session, where they observed the early signs of autumn and encountered some friendly squirrels along the way.

A visit to the on-site kitchen garden was another highlight, with the children exploring the herb garden and admiring the apple trees. Their confidence shone through as they met new teachers and moved around the school, experiencing different learning spaces.

Everyone is looking forward to the many new opportunities that the upcoming week will bring for the Queen’s Minis.
