Nursery
Cottontails had a delightful time this week celebrating Nursery Rhyme Week! They joined in plenty of singing and dancing activities, with “Old McDonald” quickly becoming a favourite as they learned about different animals and their sounds. The farm-themed tuff tray brought even more excitement, allowing the children to explore hands-on and make creative connections. This week’s Book of the Week, Bigger Digger, inspired them to experiment with diggers to create patterns and marks in playful, hands-on learning. To honour Remembrance Day, Cottontails also crafted their own beautiful poppy pictures.
Puddleducks focused on road safety, kicking off the week with a visit to the onsite zebra crossing. Here, they had a thoughtful discussion on how to safely cross the road and stay mindful of traffic. Inspired by this lesson, they enjoyed creative activities like car paintings and traffic light art, proudly displayed in their room.
Later in the week, the children brought their road safety learning to life by making their very own bus! Lining up chairs, they imagined lively journeys, singing songs like “The Wheels on the Bus” and giggling as they pretended to travel around town. It was a wonderful, imaginative way to round off an action-packed week.
Minis
The Queen’s Minis had an exciting, educational week focused on fire safety. The theme came to life through an engaging outdoor fire-lighting lesson, where children learned to kindle a spark and practised essential fire safety rules. With an emphasis on respecting and safely managing fire, the Minis showed impressive care and responsibility throughout the experience. The week’s highlight was toasting marshmallows over the flames, as the children delighted in watching them turn golden and gooey—a delicious end to their fiery adventure!
In addition to the outdoor lesson, the Minis crafted their own fireman’s hats and explored how to contact emergency services. They learned how to call for a fire engine and other emergency support, building confidence in what steps to take in an emergency. It was a week full of hands-on learning, safety awareness, and memorable fun!
