Nursery
The Nursery children have been making the most of the spring sunshine, enjoying plenty of outdoor learning and exciting activities.
In Cottontails, the focus book this week has been Brown Bear, Brown Bear, inspiring a range of sensory and creative experiences. The children explored coloured rice, experimented with mixing paints, and brought the story to life through movement-based action songs and animal-themed role-play.
Meanwhile, Puddleducks have been fully immersed in their spring-themed topic. They have enjoyed role-playing in their flower shop, carefully selecting and arranging flowers for their “customers.” The children experimented with making their own perfume using petals and coloured water and developed their fine motor skills by threading flowers into makeshift vases. They also created beautiful springtime artwork, using painting, printing, and collage techniques.
Both groups have relished the opportunity to observe seasonal changes, spotting new plants in the garden and discussing signs of spring all around them.
Minis
This week, Queen’s Minis have been exploring all things that fly, starting with an exciting space-themed activity! The children created papier-mâché planets for their very own solar system, carefully painting each one to match its real-life colours and features.
As part of their learning, the children have discovered more about the planets, showing great curiosity and asking fantastic questions about the moon, rockets, and stars. Their newly introduced daily Show & Tell sessions have been a huge success, with children confidently presenting their chosen items and demonstrating excellent language skills, engagement, and enthusiasm.
