This week Phillip in Year 9 took first prize and the winners trophy in the Taunton Junior Young Singer Competition for the Taunton Festival of the Arts. Phillip performed a 10 minute programme of songs in a public performance in Temple Methodist Church in front of a panel of judges. The competition was tough with lots of great singers from other schools and colleges. The judges were particularly impressed with his confident delivery of You’ll be Back from Hamilton.

Also taking part in the Festival Singing Competitions this weekend was Ellie in Year 10; Ellie sang a 10 minute recital at the Taunton Young Singer including the hit from the musical Wicked, Defying Gravity. It was an excellent performance. Ellie is now going on to take part in the Two Moors Festival Competition.
