Somerset Women’s Cricket team made the most of the excellent outdoor facilities at Queen’s College Taunton this week as they prepared for the upcoming season. With good weather on their side, the squad took advantage of the school’s astroturf training areas to sharpen their skills.
Following the session, Queen’s College pupils had the valuable opportunity to speak with the players, asking questions about training, match preparation, and life as a professional cricketer. The visit also allowed Queen’s College coaching and strength and conditioning staff to exchange ideas with those working in the professional game, helping to further develop opportunities for pupils at the school.
Caroline Foster, Head of Cricket at Queen’s College, highlighted the benefits of the experience:
“It was fantastic to welcome Somerset Women’s players to Queen’s. Our pupils gained so much from speaking with them and will be looking to apply what they’ve learned to their own game. Opportunities like this are incredibly valuable in helping young cricketers develop and improve.”
“What was particularly pleasing, was seeing large groups of students gathering in the sun to watch them train during their lunch breaks. I can’t speak highly enough about what role models they are representing Somerset in the new professional era of women’s county cricket. We look forward to supporting them at the Cooper Associates County Ground.”
The session provided an inspiring experience for Queen’s College pupils, reinforcing the school’s commitment to supporting young cricketers in their development.
