Trips and Visits

At Queen’s there are many opportunities to get off campus and explore – from trips to local spots of outstanding natural beauty, to travelling to different countries and experiencing new cultures!

A Sixth Form trip in recent years, was to Romania in 2019. This was an amazing experience for all involved. A group of students were able to experience a new culture, volunteer in the local community and even try some new cuisine!

Queen’s also offer various trips to educational trips sites such as CERN in Switzerland for the Physics students among other trips such as the popular Geography Trip to Iceland.

There are also outdoor pursuits based trips such as climbing and ski trips. Additionally, the sports teams often take tours. In recent years there have been hockey tours to South Africa and a Cricket Tour to Sri Lanka  – these trips are due to run again in 2022.

Among educational and skill building trips we also have a variety of recreational trips to theme parks! Trips to Thorpe Park, Alton Towers and Disneyland Paris have all been very popular.

Activities and Socials

Activities and Socials

The Sixth Form is truly a community and we encourage the students to come to socials to get to know each other and have some fun together.

The Sixth Form Executive and the Prefects are responsible for running social events in the sixth form. On the first day of the new school year, the traditional Sixth Form Barn Dance takes place. This event is always well attended and is an excellent icebreaker which allows students the chance to get to know each other and form friendships.

Throughout the year various activities are run, such as movie nights which often include lots of popcorn and pizza as well as karaoke nights which are always entertaining!

At the end of the Christmas term, the annual Christmas Ball takes place at Oake Manor where the Sixth Form can celebrate together and have some well-deserved fun after a long term.

On the last day of the summer term, our annual, greatly anticipated Leaver’s Ball takes place after Speech Day. This is a lavish event with a three course dinner, dancing and even dodgems! It is a chance for the sixth form to celebrate their achievements but also an opportunity for us to say farewell to our Year 13 Leavers.
