TV Celebrity Chefs Praise Queen’s College in Cookery Competition

We are celebrating the culinary success of last Friday at the Royal Academy of Culinary Arts at Bournemouth and Poole College. Queen’s College pupil Natasha (Year 11) managed to make it through to the national finals where she scored exceptionally high marks in her category.

Mentored by our very own ‘South West Chef of the Year’ winner Munopa (Year 13) Natasha prepared a traditional ‘Spiced Nigerian Jollof Rice, Chicken, Sweet Fried Plantain together with a spiced Mango and Lime Salsa and local micro greens and flowers’. She was individually praised by head judge and celebrity TV chef Lesley Waters, famed for regular television appearances on Ready Steady Cook, Great Food Live and This Morning and the former head tutor at Leith’s School of Food and Wine.

She specifically congratulated Natasha on her professional, calm, organised, and methodical approach, and her beautiful platingAnother celebrity TV chef James Golding with regular television appearances on Channel 4’s Sunday Brunch show complimented her delicious salsa.

Natasha said, “I really wanted to win because Food and Nutrition is something I’ve always been inspired by and wanted to excel in”.Queen’s College Head of Food and Nutrition, Mr. Mann said: “I am extremely proud of the immense enthusiasm and professionalism of Tasha. She was an absolute credit to Queen’s College.”
