Courses
We offer a diverse range of options in addition to A Levels, such as Level 3 Diplomas and BTECs which are all equivalent to one A Level. We also encourage students to broaden their skills and knowledge beyond the traditional curriculum, preparing them for the challenges of University and the workplace by offering a range of activities including the Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) and the Queen’s Diploma.
The skills acquired through sport, the visual arts, music, performing arts, outdoor pursuits and a myriad of other activities become increasingly valuable in the 21st Century. The Co-Curricular programme aims to complement the academic curriculum and provide ‘something for everyone’, with 100+ unique options. It gives opportunities for Queen’s College students to experience a variety of engaging activities. The programme aims to develop different skills and experiences and encourage students to challenge themselves and pursue their passions.
The Queen’s Diploma is a sixth form initiative developed to prepare our young adults for and strengthen their opportunities in early adulthood and later life. It is an exciting initiative that inspires our students to extend themselves beyond the usual. The Diploma becomes a key ingredient in application writing: highlighting transferable skills and desirable character traits, and providing examples for competency-based questions on which they will later rely. Through this Diploma, our students will build new skills, gain a range of attributes and develop a habit of lifelong learning and commitment to citizenship. Students work to achieve at least 150 credits towards the Queen’s Diploma over 13-15 months with a graduation at the end. Students can pick which credits they would like to gain across the four strands. Read more

A graduate of Bath University, Tim reports that “I’m a travelling reserve for Paris and it will be great to experience the Games with the squad. Six months ago I wouldn’t have believed I would be this involved so I feel very lucky and honoured to have this opportunity. I will do everything I can to help the team out.”🌟

On Friday, Year 8 went on a Geography and Art trip where they learned some interesting facts about bugs. In response to this trip, the pupils drew from observation using the technique of continuous lines with a pen. They then created mini sculptures from these drawings using wire and beads of all shapes. All of these beautiful sculptures are now hanging beautifully in the Art Department Tree. Well done, Year 8!🐝🦋🐞

Our year 12 pupils have had the amazing opportunity to meet OQ Amelia Vance who currently works as a Visual Merchandiser for the Harrods Windows displays after graduating from Loughborough with a First in Textile Design. Amelia graduated a year ago and has shown our pupils her stunning university portfolio, which consisted of work from her Art Foundation year, Textile degree, and GCSE and A Level Textiles from when she was at Queen`s.
It has been fantastic to show our pupils where they can take their future creative careers, and also to see where Amelia`s creative journey has taken her. Amelia has inspired our pupils and us as teachers, and we feel fortunate that she has kept in touch and returned to see us🎨

Our Queen`s Motorsports Team participated in their first race of the 2024 season on Wednesday, arriving at Predannack Airfield near Helston around 8am. After turning the first corner, the rear axle slipped within the bearings and shifted causing the chain to come off. The team returned to the pits to realign and managed to get back on track. Once racing resumed, the team achieved the second-fasted time! 🏎

A group of Year 12 pupils made the long journey up to Scotland to complete their Gold DofE Expedition on the River Spey. They paddled from high up in the Cairngorms Mountains to Spey Bay over 4 days. The weather was great and the views were stunning with every day bringing a slightly different vista as the river wound its way from the mountains to the sea. With rapids throughout, there were some swims but the group coped really well with the challenges of the river. The trip was the culmination of months of training and planning and everybody did very well!🚣🏆
